Comment to Emmas week 4 post
I agree that being addicted to video games is not that bad of a thing. There are many reasons that a child can benefit from playing video games. If you have read some of my prior posts, a child can increase their hand eye coordination greatly by playing video games. Video games today are so interactive that children who are socially awkward can learn how to become socially accepted. Also with the interaction and creation that can be done in a multitude of games children can create things and use their imagination like they never could of before. Our parents always told us it was great to use our imagination and visualize but now kids these days can use their imagination and create something on their television screen. It also gives them something to do where they are using their brain. There are a lot of games out there that cause people who play them to think. It doesn't have to be an educational game to get them to think but RPG's or MMORPG's are great examples. As well as puzzles games and action simulations such as Tomb Raider and Uncharted that make you think to get through the game. The direction that video games are going is something that is going to get the child off the couch and actually get them active. (See my post for week 4) This and many other reasons show that actually children being addicted to video games isn't as bad as once believed.
