Video Game Myths (Sebastian Solorza)

When it comes to video games and it comes to expression a lot of parents think that video games isolate children.  In this article it is shown that isolation and violence are not causes of constant play of video games.  Many think that children who play video games are awkward socially and that they have a higher tendency to become violent than those who do not play video games.  Studies have shown the complete opposite.  I have played video games for many years and I am the furthest from a violent person as well as furthest from that of a socially awkward person.  Video games do not control what people do or who they are they are mostly an outlet for people to have something to do.  I play video games because I am very interested in the way that they work and I love the competition that they present.  It is a way to strengthen my hand eye coordination and in my RPG games increase intellect and sometimes critical thinking abilities.  I am sure that it can become a problem for people who play games such as World of Warcraft 24/7 literally but I am talking about people who play roughly between 10-20 hours a week.  People who play World of Warcraft every second of every day they can have been known to experience social awkwardness.  It does enable people who have low self esteem or who are not socially accepted to converse with many different people and feel more comfortable communicating in an environment even if it is a virtual one.  People will argue the pros and cons of Video game play for as long as they are created, the reason I loved this article is that they debunk some of the more attacking myths about video game play.
