Violence and Video Games

So, I was sitting here thinking about Facebook the other day, and how many children are getting bullied over the web. This is a huge issue now days, children are killing themselves, due to the things that other children say to them online via Facebook, Myspace, Twitter etc.

Then I got to thinking about video games. First of all, there are numerous games that are very violent and somewhat teaches the players that violence is okay, and they not only love playing the game, but they LOVE shooting and seeing the characters heads chopped off, blood squirting everywhere and all the other thrills that come along with the specific game. Second, there are so many games now days that you can actually talk to the other players and who are you competing against as well as your other teammates.

Okay, so this is my questions. Are people getting bullied while playing video games by the people they are playing against, or even the people on their team. I think the main reason you can talk to the other players is to talk crap to them to make them lose. You can also talk to your teammates for assistance, but if you or your teammates are not doing well you could also talk crap to them and make them feel bad because they are making you lose!

How much crap do people talk to each other during these games? What do people say? Is it hurtful?

I don't play games where I have to talk to others, and if I do I do not wear the headset and turn my sound off and listen to music, not because I don't want to be "bullied," just for the simple fact I don't want to talk to the other person.

If people are getting so hurt over technology now days, where is the line? Will it ever stop?
