"Whist this work is still experimental, and any potential treatment is a long way off, we are beginning to understand how intrusive memories/flashbacks are formed after trauma, and how we can use science to explore new preventative treatments," said Dr. Holmes.
This was a quote by Dr. Emily Holmes of Oxford University's Department of Psychiatry, in the Tetris article. I LOVE how she says, “…how we can use science to explore new preventative treatments.” The fact that I found an article where video games have been portrayed as scientific devices, has made my search for a good article worth it. Many times we think of video games as specifically for leisure activities, but rarely are they thought of as instruments to help us better understand cognitive and behavioral variables.
The other night I started playing the new Call of Duty: Black Ops game. I probably logged 6 hours straight of a combination of campaign play and online gaming. I found myself seeing a lot of blood, cursing and visuals of torture to people. When I was done, I went straight to bed, and I found myself stuck in “gamer” mode. I kept visualizing the game and what was going on and what I thought was going to happen next? Its funny that I found an article about what I had recently experienced. So I guess I must need to try this experiment before I go to bed and do my own research. Good thing my MOBILE DEVICE had Tetris loaded to it!
Look up the stuff on "serious games" That will really blow your mind
